In an art project titled Good Movies As Old Books, designer and illustrator Matt Stevens recreated 100 of his favorite movies into classic vintage book covers.
Stevens featured a diverse range of flicks spanning from blockbusters to obscure gems and cult favorites, including the recent Oscar-winning Parasite directed by Bong Joon-ho. The book cover is washed in blue with monochromatic blocks and lines alluding to the backdrop of the film.
Filmmaker Ridley Scott’s Aliens also received the paperback treatment with the silhouette of the creature splashed in brush strokes. The cover even sports a price tag, making it look like the real deal.
Fan-favorite Fight Club, directed by David Flincher, has had many covers as it is based on a novel written by Chuck Palahniuk. However, Stevens reimagined the movie as an aged, worn-out hardcover featuring a man wrestling his own shadow.
Each artwork visually represents the film’s plot along with its title and the director’s name as the author.
The designer’s personal endeavor is now a self-published art book consisting of all 100 mesmerizing book covers. Both the individual prints and the book itself are available on sale via Stevens’ website.
