Google has developed 3D models of historical creatures that can be brought to life via its AR feature.
Google has a teamed up with Moscow’s State Darwin Museum and London’s Natural History Museum to launch 3D models of creatures that lived millions of years ago. These 3D models can then be viewed and manipulated into real-world settings using a smartphone-based AR function.
Some of the creatures include the Aegirocassis, a sea creature that existed 480 million years ago; a creepy-looking ancient crustacean; and a digital remodel of the whale skeleton, which is currently in view in the National History Museum’s Hintze Hall.
These creatures can be viewed at real time within your living space using the Google Arts & Culture app. Try it for yourself now.
See eye to eye with prehistoric creatures, get up close to seaside specimens or enjoy some extraordinary treasures from ancient sculptures to space exploration gear - all at your fingertips thanks to #AR.
