Milana Vayntrub, the actress who stars as AT&T spokeswoman Lily Adams, has opened up about the incessant sexual harassment she has been facing online in an Instagram Live video.
Vayntrub has starred in several commercials for AT&T, earning the nickname “AT&T girl.” These adverts have been posted on various social media channels, only to be sexualized by many internet users in the comments sections.
The excessive remarks about her looks and body led the AT&T Instagram page to turn off its comments. Prior to that, the account also responded to some sexual comments by stating, “Your overshares aren’t welcome.”
Vayntrub finally opened up about the sexual harassment via an Instagram Live video, where she tearfully expressed how she felt about these inappropriate comments.
“Maybe this just has to be with being a person on the internet or maybe it’s specific to being a woman. But it’s because of your tits,” Vayntrub said in the video. “Listen, that’s why I’m here. All of these ‘milk’ and ‘milkies’ comments and ‘milk wagons,’ and all of that, it hurts my feelings.”
Twitter user @emotylol shared a snippet of her video to bring awareness to Vayntrub’s situation. “This is so sad,” he wrote in the tweet. “She (the AT&T girl) is talking about how she’s uncomfortable with being sexualized and people [are] making sexual comments about her chest. What the f**k.”
