Apple has added another shade to its in-built iOS rainbow stripe wallpapers: Dark Mode.
The new option, uncovered by graphic designer AR7 in iOS 14 beta 7, automatically switches the popular rainbow wallpapers to a less glaring version in Dark Mode.
In the current iOS 13, the stock backgrounds retain their dominant colors, whether or not Dark Mode is switched on. Moving forward, though, primary hues of green, yellow, orange, pink, purple or blue will make way for a black background while retaining the rainbow stripe.
There is already a default black version available in iOS’ gallery of still wallpapers, but if you prefer the pastel variations, the setting will let you enjoy the backgrounds all day long without too much eye strain.
iOS 14 is poised to be ready for the masses this fall.
