Since the coronavirus pandemic struck, the world hasn’t been quite the same. Traveling around the globe and venturing out to bustling cities have become a distant memory. If only there was a way humanity could step out of Earth for a bit and have a little vacation in the cosmos.
The idea indeed sounds like wishful thinking, but Hotels.com is confident about the future of space travel where humans can take a trip to space and wind down in intergalactic hotels.
The hotel booking platform is striving to be the “first online travel site to offer future hotel bookings in space.” It has even launched a micro-site with renderings of how holidays would look like in the galaxies.
The site displays the potential look of artificially intelligent concierges, space-suit hotel robes with moon-boot slippers, a meteor mini-bar, machine bellhops, and more. The rooms are furnished with sleeping pods that come with “holographic wake-up call,” which includes a library of “800 earthling celebrities.”
The out-of-this-world hotel sounds like a refreshing voyage, but it does not exist yet. However, Hotels.com is positive that it will come into fruition in the future, so much so that it is offering gift cards, worth US$250 each, to the first 20 hopeful galactic travelers who can prove that they have one of the eight planets in their legal first, middle or last name. The gift cards can be used in the lunar outpost and beyond in the future, or on Earth’s lodges in the meantime.
Take a look at the concept renderings below.
