The 72nd Emmy Awards is a lot different from other years.
The show was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who walked viewers through the various precautions taken during the awards show during the broadcast. He explained that the ceremony featured live-streaming feeds and presenters in full hazmat suits, before taking a squirt of hand sanitizer from a bottle held up by the gold Emmy statue.
The modified statuette seemed to be the perfect symbol of holding an awards ceremony during an ongoing pandemic, and people loved it.
Jennifer Gunter tweeted, “OK, that is top hand sanitizer game,” while another Twitter user wrote, “Props to the prop department who whipped that one out.”
