Last week, Japan unveiled a life-sized Gundam robot, based on the 1979 titular animation series, in the city of Yokohama. 2020 seems to truly be full of surprises, as a fictitious superhero has now been brought to life.
The creators built the robot to a 1:1 scale replica of the RX-78-2, meaning it stood at 18 meters (59 feet) in height.
The beloved humanoid made its first public appearance on Tuesday for a test run to flex its movements, and it managed to walk, kneel, move its fingers, point to the sky, and stare at humans on the ground.
The gigantic cyborg will be featured in Gundam Factory, an entertainment center set to open in October 2020 in Japan.
