It is no doubt that 2020 has been quite the horror movie, and new research has now confirmed that two in three Americans share the same sentiment. The irony is people are turning to thrilling films to escape real life because fiction seems a whole lot better than reality nowadays.
In a study of 2,000 Americans, 66 percent revealed that they will be celebrating Halloween this year by watching horror movies as a form of escapism from the year 2020.
The survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of streaming site Tubi, reveals the most iconic Halloween movies many might turn to this Halloween season.
It might not be much of a surprise, but the titular film Halloween topped the selection, followed by The Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream.
When it comes to the scariest villains in spine-chilling films, Freddy Krueger from The Nightmare on Elm Street and Michael Myers from Halloween clutched the first position, followed by Norman Bates from Psycho.
There are just some phrases that you can never hear the same way again after hearing it in a horror film. Some of them are, “I see dead people,” from The Sixth Sense, “Heeeere’s Johnny!” from The Shining, as well as, “They’re here,” from Poltergeist.
Similarly, there are also a few memorable theme songs in these films that might immediately send shivers down your spine. The notable ones are from Halloween, Friday the 13th and The Exorcist.
