Finland’s prime minister Sanna Marin has been criticized for donning a black blazer with a plunging neckline and no top underneath it for her recent photoshoot.
Marin appeared on fashion publication Trendi as its October cover star. However, readers claimed her outfit choice was “inappropriate” when she decided to wear the blazer with the deep neckline and no blouse underneath it.
The cover was shared on the magazine’s Instagram account, with the caption, “Prime Minister Sanna Marin has a leading position as an example, a role model, a change of things and an influencer.”
Unfortunately, the cover garnered negative comments, with one Instagram user commenting, “Yeah a real role model. It would have been better in the darkest of clouds. Ridiculous that the breasts of a woman appear in two without a blouse. Someone with taste and sense of style.”
Marin’s fans were angered when they saw the negative reviews and showed their support by launching the hashtag ‘#imwithsanna’. They also posted photos of themselves posing in similar ensembles to hers.
Her fans also praised Marin’s cover, stating that she’s a “wonderful woman who is not afraid to break the dusty hardened patriarchal formulas.”

This photo of Prime minister of Finland #SannaMarin has caused controversy in public opinion.😑I think her fashion choice is not inappropriate and her photo stunning. Female politicians should be judged more by their deeds and less by their clothing choices!#iamwithsanna pic.twitter.com/9gw3y0cqxR

The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, is catching hellfire for having this photo taken. There is a growing movement with the hashtag #supportsanna to defend her and I invite everyone in the Twitterverse to join in, including men. pic.twitter.com/M4EwiwWZrx

This is Finland’s Prime Minister - 34 year old Sanna Marin - and she’s caused a sh*tstorm in Finland after posing for a magazine while showing this much cleavage. Argument is basically ‘You can’t dress like that if you’re PM’, while showing you can dress like that if you’re PM. pic.twitter.com/z64E3u01yk
