In the future, the Atari logo will highlight skylines and give them a Ready Player One-like glow. The video game console mammoth has partnered with hotel management chain GSD Group to build video game-themed Atari Hotels.
A little under a year after announcing their collaboration, GSD Group has teased impressive visuals of what the futuristic hotels, designed by architecture firm Gensler, could look like.
Early concept art reveals the video game-inspired hotels are likely to be shaped into a giant 3D Atari ‘Fuji’ logo. The illustrations seem to mainly be for the 400-room Las Vegas flagship Atari Hotel, which will be the first of eight hotels to be ready, according to the Architects Newspaper.
As shown in the renderings, the building is divided into separate hemispheres, which are merged by a glass atrium spreading to the back. This creates a massive tri-ponged structure in the shape of the Atari monogram. The hotel appears to also be outlined by lights that can be programmed to change colors or patterns.
GSD Group shares that Atari Hotel rooms will be “inspired by great science fiction stories.” Restaurants and lounges that “stimulate the senses,” along with retro arcades and immersive entertainment areas, will be situated at a hall at the rear entrance, the Architect Newspaper learns.
Gamers won’t just be there to surround themselves in themed aesthetics. The hotels are designed to deliver stunning video game experiences, and will include an esports multiplex, “experiential entertainment,” mixed-reality programming, and digital studios.
The first hotel in Las Vegas is primed to open in 2022, followed by locations in Phoenix, Arizona; the West Coast; Southwest; and Midwest.
