Apple might be working on its own version of Google Search, according to a report by the Financial Times.
This comes after The New York Times reported that the Justice Department has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google. Some speculate that the tech juggernaut is involved in illegal practices to safekeep its monopoly in online search.
Later, the Financial Times learned that the lawsuit might have impelled Apple to rapidly work on its own search product.
Experts also noted that Apple’s web crawler, Applebot, has showcased an increase in activity over the last few weeks. Its recent movements hint at the possibility of it collecting data to build its own search engine, analysts deduced.
