MUJI has announced that it is releasing four plant-based meat alternative meals this month.
The new move comes amid the rising demand for meat alternatives among health-conscious consumers in Japan. The 100-percent plant-based meat is made from soybeans, and is used for new vegetarian Soy Meat Hamburger Steak, Soy Meat Meatballs, Soy Ground Meat, and a Thin-Sliced Meat. The steak and meatballs are ready-made, while the remaining two options are great for adding to your favorite recipes.
These products can be stored at room temperature and require no refrigeration. MUJI added that the meat isn’t dried and does not require rehydration to be consumed.
The plant-based meats are priced at 290 yen (US$2.75), and they can be purchased
