On Thursday, Tesla launched its very own Tequila in a lightning bolt-shaped bottle and priced it at US$250.
The packaging design exudes a futuristic appeal in line with the brand’s array of electric vehicles. The bottle features Tesla’s branding and comes with a modern stand etched with the company’s emblem.
According to the product description, the beverage is “100 percent de agave tequila añejo aged in French oak barrels, featuring a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish.”
Despite the hefty price tag, the beverage sold out within hours after launching on Tesla’s website.
This beverage might not be too much of a surprise to fans, as it was previously referenced in 2018 in an April Fool’s joke.
Back then, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that his company was filing for bankruptcy and that he was “found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by ‘Teslaquilla’ bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks.”
Within that year, Tesla filed an “intent to use” trademark for Teslaquilla with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

This is not a forward-looking statement, because, obviously, what's the point?
