Despite the thousands of films and series available on its platform, you’ll sometimes be caught in a mood where nothing on Netflix seems like the right choice.
The streaming service appears to be working on a channel for the finicky who can never decide on what to watch. It’s called ‘Netflix Direct’, and rather than having you choose which flicks to catch, it follows a linear television-like setup where programs are already pre-scheduled for you.
According to Variety, Netflix started trialing the channel on 5 November in France, where the demographic largely remains inclined to watching traditional television for its “lean back” experience.
Netflix described that this program may be favored by certain audiences, as, “Maybe you’re not in the mood to decide, or you’re new and finding your way around, or you just want to be surprised by something new and different.” We imagine the channel would also be perfect for those who don’t have the time to commit to binge-watching a series.
Interestingly enough, viewers can’t launch Netflix Direct from streaming devices, Netflix-installed televisions, nor set-top boxes. Instead, the early test sees it only being accessible through browsers.
Netflix will continue testing out the channel with a small market, before making it more widely available in the country from December.
