The Pokémon Company has unveiled a new logo for the popular franchise’s big 25th anniversary.
The company revealed the new logo at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and it is believed that the branding will be printed on a variety of merchandise over the next year.
The logo takes the shape of Pikachu’s face, but his rosy cheeks have been replaced with the numbers two and five in reference to the milestone.
The design, however, did not sit well with some fans, who pointed out that it looks visually similar to the 20th-anniversary emblem.
Check out the symbol below.

Graphic designer: Great! I've got some great ideas based off of the 20-year anniversary with-
all of these designs were either taken from the 20th anniversary, or they were traced from a card— Peronyx (@Peronyx_) November 27, 2020
This took FOREVER! Trying to reproportion all of the old ones from the 20th anniversary to fit the 6 new starters, and have them all fit together like the 20th was super complicated
Yeah but they didn't really add ANYTHING special to it. It's just Pikachu with numbers for his red cheeks, and they already had that on the previous— David Johnson (@TheDavidMaximus) November 26, 2020
Honestly, I'm not mad that they just reused the 20th anniversary logo and just changed it from 20 to 25. It fits as Pikachu is the 25th Pokemon in the Pokedex. https://t.co/5NRFGtwqMa— Nikki (@UmbriHearts) November 26, 2020
