Ben & Jerry’s has teamed up with athlete Colin Kaepernick for a brand new ice cream flavor called ‘Change The Whirled’ to throw its support for equality.
Like Kaepernick, Change the Whirled is vegan. It also features a caramel sunflower butter ice cream base with fudge and graham cracker bits, along with chocolate cookie swirls.
“I’ve teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to serve up joy on the journey to justice!” Kaepernick announced on social media. “Today, we’re excited to introduce Change the Whirled, a new non-dairy flavor that hits shelves in early-2021!”
The progressive ice cream flavor aims to celebrate Kaepernick’s activist work in confronting systemic oppression and spark international conversation about racial justice.
The offering will be available early next year, with proceeds going to the Know Your Rights Camp, an organization funded by Kaepernick himself with the goal of “advancing the liberation and well-being of black and brown communities,” per its website.
“We’re honored to be partnering with Colin Kaepernick in this movement to change the world, and we look forward to working together in the fight for justice and racial equity for a long time to come,” Ben & Jerry’s said in its press release.
The ice cream will be sold across the US and parts of Europe at US$4.99 to US$5.49.
