The public domain is home to countless diamonds in the rough, but there are a number of freebies there that are already perfect as they are.
If you’re pressed for time, or are simply looking for something new to work with, there’s a selection of open fonts you can use and modify without worrying about intellectual property-related consequences. Noupe magazine has rounded up some typefaces and fonts from the public domain, as well as free typographies that aren’t in the public domain, to help you get started.
What sets a free public domain font apart from a typical free font is that you can customize it as you wish. Free fonts and typefaces don’t promise this freedom.
Preview some quality fonts from the public domain, and explore more in Noupe’s lineup.
