Your Google Assistant can finally catch a breath from working—and tolerating with weird human queries—with a new ‘Do Nothing’ mode. And it seems that, when there’s no need to be professional, that’s when its attitude starts kicking in.
The ‘Do Nothing’ setting was developed alongside Cadbury’s 5 Star, a chocolate bar available in some countries. Customers can trigger the mode by declaring, “Eat a 5 Star,” which will prompt the virtual assistant to respond, “I feel like doing nothing now. And I’m going to help you chill too. Ask me anything.”
Prasham Parikh of Android Police gave the setting a go, asking Google Assistant about the weather. “Haha, as if you’re going to step out,” the voice assistant would reply. When he made an inquiry about the nearest salon, it answered, “You’re in luck. Bushy eyebrows, hairy armpits and no-makeup selfies are in fashion.”
Unfortunately, the new mode isn’t accessible in the US or Europe, and can only be switched on in regions where the 5 Star bar is sold.
It has been confirmed by Parikh that customers in India can toggle on the ‘Do Nothing’ mode, though it’s unclear if consumers in 5 Star’s other markets—Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, South Africa, the Philippines, and Egypt—can experiment with it.
