Twitter has created the first-ever Second Gentleman account for Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff.
Twitter laid out its plan for the transition of all official White House accounts on Inauguration Day and this is the first time the aforementioned account has been made.
Kamala Harris made history by becoming the first woman to be the vice president of the USA, and as a result, her husband made history too. Now, he is officially assigned to the @SecondGentleman handle, with his bio reading, “Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. Devoted dad. Proud husband to @VP Harris.”
Many have dubbed this as an iconic moment, and “second gentleman” dominated on Twitter. “There’s a Second Gentleman. This makes it so real to me. SECOND GENTLEMAN. Look what Kamala Harris did. History,” a Twitter user declared.
Emhoff is “honored and humbled” to take on the role, stating that he is also “doing his homework as Second Gentleman, a designation that never existed before.
Following the inauguration of the 46th US president Joe Biden, his administration will take over the White House together with the official Twitter accounts, which include @WhiteHouse, @POTUS, @VP, @FLOTUS and @PressSec.
Wife, mother, sister, auntie... and now, Madame Vice President. Today marks an amazing chapter for you, our family, and for our nation. We love you so much. https://t.co/Ijf3h0CqHh

I'm so incredibly honored and humbled to be the first @SecondGentleman of the United States. As we countdown to Inauguration Day, I've been doing my homework—and looking to the past for inspiration. pic.twitter.com/bhE7SvCls2

Folks — This will be the account for my official duties as President. At 12:01 PM on January 20th, it will become @POTUS. Until then, I'll be using @JoeBiden. And while you're here, follow @FLOTUSBiden @SenKamalaHarris @SecondGentleman and @Transition46.
