Life as you knew it was upended in 2020, so the landscape in 2021 looks a lot different.
Marketing communications agency Wunderman Thompson envisions a world baked into remote living in 2021. Its annual Future 100 report encapsulates previously unusual concepts that are expected to be part of everyday consumer behavior within the next 12 months.
Among the anticipated trends to go mainstream around the world are micropreneurs, a new drove of business-minded individuals driven to become entrepreneurs as a result of economic uncertainty and unemployment; ghost kitchens, hidden cooking areas influenced by the norm of food deliveries; and live commerce, interactive shopping experiences boosted with video streaming.
2021 is also expected to spring with green solutions, like using foraged ingredients in beauty products.
Something that hasn’t really taken off yet, but is believed to be up and coming, is “multigenerational travel,” where extended families decide to go on vacation together after being forced apart in 2020.
The report covers potential industry changes in culture, beauty, branding and marketing, business and finance, food and drink, health, retail, technology and travel. Read it here.
