Levi’s has teamed up with filmmaker Oge Egbuonu for a new campaign for Black History Month.
The campaign, which is titled Beauty of Becoming, features a roster of pop culture creatives, professionals and activists including Naomi Osaka, Willow and Jaden Smith, Brandon Flynn, Haben Girma, Melina Abdullah and Angela Beyince.
These videos highlight these individuals’ personal journeys to success. Each of them read out advice they would tell their 14-year-old selves while describing their journey that led to where they are today. The aim behind Beauty of Becoming is to remind viewers that greatness is “achieved through experience, self-exploration and discovery.”
Speaking about the project, Egubuonu told Complex that she drew inspiration from people that were finding ways “to become more of themselves during this transformative moment in history.”
“Everyone, no matter their background, must evolve through a process of becoming. Of realizing through time and experience the full potential of who they are and what they can achieve. And it’s this narrative that serves as the common thread throughout,” she continued.
The clips will celebrate Black History Month and continue through June.
