When Indian shopping website Myntra took on a single ‘M’ icon as its logo, it likely did it to appear striking and readable across digital platforms. Little did the company realize that there would be a gray area between legibility and legality.
According to the Indian Express, an activist lodged a complaint with the Mumbai cyber police in December 2020 describing that the monogram was “insulting and offensive” to women.

It was the pair of overlapping orange columns in the middle that created the illusion of a naked woman with her legs apart, the person claimed.
Since then, the brand has refreshed its logo so that the orange no longer blends:

The funniest thing about this whole Myntra thing is that, even though I highly doubt that many minds went there in the first place, you can't really unsee it anymore. And the new logo isn't enough of a redesign to ever change that association now. pic.twitter.com/hCNvaNf5eC
