Luxury brand Louis Vuitton has once again caught itself the attention of the internet like a masterful puppeteer.
This time, the product in question is adorned with not one, or two, but 14 brightly colored knitted crochet dolls all over. Despite it being adorable, social media users are dragging the brand as the sweater reportedly sells at an eye-watering price tag of US$8,100.
The garment is among the brand’s other playful pieces, including a US$6,100 ‘
puppet baseball’ jacket and a US$7,450
hoodie.
The sweater is currently seen on the brand’s
Hong Kong store for HK$63,500 (US$8,200) but it is out of stock. According to its
EU site, interested customers would have to call to inquire as the piece is “exclusively made-to-order.”
Featured animals include a flamingo, scorpion, mouse, and a frog to name a few. According to social media users, they resembled children’s toys and the garment doesn’t spell couture at all.
“How hard can attaching your old stuffies to your sweater be?” a Twitter user wrote in response to
Vogue Paris, who shared the piece on social media. “I think I can get all the components at Walmart and after a few stitches, I can make it for US$24.99! I sell it for US$50.00 and I’m making a million,” a
Facebook user commented.
For those who wished to rock the look but do not have the means to do so, consider going to a standard craft shop or rummage through a child’s room to create a similar look.
