Watch brand Swatch has teamed up with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) to translate works of art into stunning yet affordable timepieces.
The latest range features a collection of nine watches, each featuring paintings from the New York institution. These include
The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh,
Hope II by Gustav Klimt,
The Dream by Henri Rousseau and
New York by Tadanori Tokoo, to name a few.
“We’re proud to continue MoMA’s ongoing relationship with Swatch through this new collection of watches inspired by artworks from MoMA’s collection,” said Robin Sayetta, associate director of business development for MoMA. “MoMA’s commitment to good design as a part of everyday life is exemplified by Swatch watches.”
These watches serve as a virtual extension of the MoMA, turning priceless artworks into accessible everyday objects that you can look at daily.
The limited-edition watches will be available to purchase at
MoMA Design Stores and
Swatch locations starting 4 March 2021 either individually or as a collector’s set. For the collector’s edition, the watches are housed in a special box inspired by the Blade Stair, an architectural feature of the museum.
