There’s nothing more annoying than your wireless headphones running out of battery while you’re out and about. Urbanista is offering a solution to that problem with its new noise-canceling Los Angeles headphones.

What makes these headphones so special? They feature a solar panel that helps recharge the battery any time it is exposed to light, allowing it to have virtually unlimited playtime.

According to Gizmodo, the Urbanista Los Angeles offers the same quality of features as other headsets in the same price range. It is likely to retail for £169 (US$230).

The gadget features active noise-canceling and an ambient sound mode, so users can switch between peace and quiet or choose to hear what’s going on around them. It also comes with a 750 mAh battery pack that boasts up to 50 hours of playback on a USB-C charge.

The headset also has on-ear detection, and allows the option of switching between Siri and Google Assistant.

The Los Angeles headphones are fitted with Exeger’s Powerfoyle solar cell material, which can be printed onto flexible surfaces such as a headband. When outside on a sunny day, the Powerfoyle solar cell strip will continually charge the headphones’ battery with about three times as much power as is being drained. This rate drops to twice as much when it’s cloudy outside. So, chances are you won’t need to charge your headset as long as it is exposed to some sun.

However, in low-light environments such as a long-haul flight, eight hours of exposure to light will only give you about an hour’s worth of playback time, so you may need to charge the device then.

Other than that, the headphones are likely to always be charging. Remember: the brighter the light source, the better. For more details, please head here.
