Microsoft might create its own spin on the light-up MacBook logos that Apple abandoned years back. According to a patent filing discovered by LetsGoDigital, the tech behemoth is exploring a “logo camera” system inspired by the iconic Windows symbol.
The document details an under-display camera configuration resembling the four multicolor squares of the Microsoft logo for phones, desktop displays, and tablets.
It would be made up of red, green, blue, and yellow cameras, and when the camera isn’t switched on, the pixels hovering above the setup could flash notification lights.
As strange as the concept might sound, Microsoft details that each of the four cameras could help color-correct photographs. In addition, it would be easier for the company to design a slimmer device by adopting quad cameras instead of just one.
For now, though, this is just one of Microsoft’s numerous patents, so don’t have your hopes up about a laptop with an illuminated Windows logo as of yet.
