Ever wish you could morph into your favorite cartoon character? While you can’t do exactly that, this café in Russia comes close: it lets you experience a meal in 2D.
With outlets in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Café Bw is different from most coffee shops you’ve been to, considering its entire interior is reminiscent of an old cartoon.
Since opening its doors in November 2019, this unique spot has become of the most popular places in town to get pictures for the ‘gram.
Upon entering Café Bw, you’ll immediately notice how everything’s devoid of color – it’s all in black and white. The subdued color scheme makes the place seem even more 2D-like, with the walls, floors, and furnitures all appearing to be without a sense of depth.
Even the food served at Café Bw is dedicated to the 2D experience. Some of the dishes, such as mugs and plates, appear fully white, just as if they were 2D too.
Coffee lovers will appreciate that the café stocks freshly roasted beans, serving up anything from lattes to mochaccinos. Delectable desserts are also on offer, with a range of pastries and cakes.
Solbon, the owner of Café Bw, told Bored Panda it took about 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of paint to achieve the café’s unique interior.
“Since then, our customers have been delighted! People deliberately come to us to take unusual pictures. Our employees are also delighted with the work and some even waited months for vacancies to open,” she said.
