Some people slog to be able to afford luxury apparel. Others get this US$3,750 Balenciaga hi-vis jacket to look like they’ve been slogging.
The irony isn’t lost on the fashion house, which designed this Reversible Logo-Print Parka as a “dystopian” piece resembling “a sort of armor for everyday life,” the running theme for its Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Other outfits from this line include collaborative NASA “spacesuits” and medieval knight armor.
Sold on designer fashion retail site Farfetch, the parka visually screams—it’s neon, after all—construction worker or crossing patrol officer. It’s padded for comfort, just in case you really need a uniform for the outdoors.

The “BLNCG” logo printed on the jacket’s chest helps bump its price up to US$3,750. Because that isn’t exactly wallet-friendly, Balenciaga designed the coat to be reversible, with its black interior also doubling as an outer layer.

Two looks for the price of one; one for the day, and the other for a night out! One says work, and the other says working it.
While the outerwear was presented at Balenciaga fashion show last year, it once again appeared in hi-visibility after meme Instagram account @ItsAllMaad shared a screenshot of the listing. “$3K to look like a builder,” one person replied.
At that price, it’s probably best not to use the coat for actual manual labor.
I love fashion & everything but surely £2890 for a hi vis jacket from Balenciaga when you can get it for £24 is ridiculous… pic.twitter.com/BDli1FM84G
