Sure, you might have reacquainted with the realm of television entertainment during the better part of the year, but is your renewed connection powerful enough for you to spill out US$1.7 million?
Rivaling Samsung’s end-to-end The Wall televisions, LG’s all-new Direct View LED (DVLED) Extreme Home Cinema Display lineup offers seamless, customizable screens for various home-viewing preferences. Customers can even choose the resolution that best fits their budget and needs, from 2K Full HD to 8K Ultra HD.
At the very minimum, there’s a 108-inch television that would set you back US$70,000, which is already larger than many people need and pricier than most would pay for.
Going further down the line, there’s a US$1.7 million 8K version stretching 32 inches and 27 feet diagonally, and weighing in at over 2,000 pounds. LG was careful not to publish a price list, though a spokesperson has confirmed the price with Mashable.
According to the company, this mammoth of a television “truly puts ‘the theater’ in home theater.”
Size and customization aside, a bulk of the price comes from the line’s DVLED technology. How it works is quite complex, but, in essence, the LEDs used are tinier than the usual ones but are superior in number.
LG says DVLED images deliver “breathtaking realism” with “captivating brilliance, vibrant color,” and support “wide contrast ratio[s],” all apparent even in brightly-lit rooms. Viewers will also be able to squeeze out “years of residential” use from the devices.
According to Home Cinema Choice, LG also throws in “free” sales support for the televisions that it claims is worth US$30,000. Included in this benefit is installation, bi-annual “health checks” for the first three years, remote monitoring, and a five-year warranty.
All of a sudden, watching a flick from the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max seems like peanuts, costing a fraction of the price at US$1,099.
