As a gesture of respect, most people would remove their earphones or headphones when speaking to another person. However, very soon, some may keep their AirPods Pro on while speaking—not because they’re rude, but as a kind of hearing aid.
The brand-new ‘Conversation Boost’ feature can be used to amplify the voices of people you’re speaking to. As per MacRumors, the setting will also help reduce ambient noise so you can perceive the other speaker’s words more clearly.
To access the feature, those who’ve updated their AirPods Pro’s firmware can head to Settings on their iPhone. According to Engadget, users should select the Accessibility menu, followed by Headphone Accommodations. Upon switching on Transparency Mode, you’ll be able to activate Conversation Boost whenever you need it.
This new function could prove to be an incredible resource to those who suffer from mild hearing disabilities, but don’t wear a hearing aid at all times.
So the next time you see someone keeping their earbuds on while having a conversation, don’t judge too soon, they could be trying to hear better.
