To truly capture the stunning moving image capabilities of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung’s latest campaign sees the company partnering with some renowned creators to showcase the best of the phone’s camera.
Acclaimed director Joe Wright is the first collaboration kicking off the #withGalaxy campaign. Known for iconic films like Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, Wright has created a new tale entirely for this project.
Princess & Peppernose, a story of “a princess in search of love who defies convention to pursue her own desires,” is brought to life with stunning puppetry and live-action choreography. Of course, it was filmed entirely on a Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G smartphone.
“My parents ran and founded the first dedicated puppet theater in the UK,” Wright shares in a statement. “I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get back to my roots.”
Speaking of the phone’s camera, Wright describes “how quick and easy it was to get right in there and be present with the characters and the story,” which is what surprised him throughout the process of creating the film. “The camera is always ready, and all you need to do is point and shoot.”

One of the features of the camera is the 13mm Ultra-Wide lens, which Wright and his team used to capture every scene in full view, which is “something we’d never done before,” one cinematographer states.
With the same wide lens, the team also moved in for closer shots. This technique gave “a very specific look and feel, a kind of ghostly, hallucinatory quality and took us back to the times shooting with a Super8,” they continue.
SHOOTonline reports that the 20-minute short film was filmed at the Restormel Castle in Cornwall, a late 13th-century medieval structure with views across the valley of the river Fowey.
This Samsung campaign is aimed at encouraging and inspiring not just budding creators, but anyone and everyone to “let their creativity run free with Galaxy.”
“Filming is one of the most powerful storytelling tools, and one of the best ways to connect emotionally with your audience,” explains Stephanie Choi, Head of Marketing for Samsung Mobile Communications. “With this series, we want to show people that they really don’t need fancy studio equipment or big budgets to create amazing films—all they need is a little imagination and the Galaxy device in their pocket.”
