Chipotle has turned soap into soap. Well, sort of. If you’re in the “cilantro
tastes like soap ” camp, you may or may not be glad to know that it can actually now be placed on the soap dish.
Many of Chipotle’s menu items include cilantro, and the firm is recognizing just how divided its community can be over this
controversial ingredient. A mockup of the soap’s packaging was teased on Instagram earlier this year, a cheeky nod to the ingredient-turned-meme.
And now it actually exists in real life. Behold the cilantro soap, courtesy of Chipotle.
Made with Saponified organic oils including olive, coconut, flaxseed, shea, coriander essential oil, and chlorella powder, this bar of soap is “100% real” (a slightly sinister thing to have to clarify) and makes the perfect gift for both cilantro lovers and haters this Christmas season, according to the company.
But no, it cannot be eaten, unlike the leafy green herb. “Do not eat soap lol,” reads a disclaimer on the back of the packaging. Well, fair enough. Cravings for this peculiar taste will have to be solved with the herb itself.

“Our Cilantro Soap plays into a larger trend of turning digital moments into real-life experiences,” explains Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer at Chipotle, in the
announcement. “Every Chipotle fan, regardless of which side of the great cilantro debate they’re on, can appreciate this fan-inspired gift.”

Alongside cilantro soap, the
Chipotle Goods store is also stocking various other products this holiday season. But it’s true that cilantro soap is arguably the most debate-inducing one out there. Unfortunately, but also unsurprisingly, it’s already sold out.
