At this year’s CES 2022, BMW could have potentially introduced one of the most jaw-dropping technological breakthroughs the automotive industry has seen. The German luxury carmaker unveiled a unique color-changing technology that allows the exterior of a car to change from white to black and back again. Yup, you read that right.

According to HI Auto, the automaker detailed in 2021 that it would be premiering the technology, and wow—it’s definitely kept its promise. Using its all-electric iX vehicle, BMW demonstrated the paint-changing magic just outside of the building where the technology convention is being held.

While the brand hasn’t said anything about how the technology works just yet, a Twitter user has uploaded a video of the color change in action for fans to marvel at. As per Carscoops, the vehicle, which appears to be dark gray, instantaneously turns to white. It’s so unbelievable it almost looks like CGI.

The individual who uploaded the video of the demonstration said that the color-changing technology is extremely sensitive to temperature, and that BMW brought along a backup vehicle just in case the first one got too hot or cold.

Take a look at the stunning technology in action below.

This color changing @BMWUSA #iX is wild! It’s apparently very temperature sensitive so they have a backup in a trailer in case this one gets too hot / cold pic.twitter.com/lXG1Gw0IKY
