Coca-Cola Is Turning A Cult-Favorite Into A Ready-To-Drink Cocktail
By Ell Ko, 07 Jan 2022
Coca-Cola has been steadily inching its way into the canned cocktail market, releasing boozy offerings like its own twist on Japan’s ‘alcopop,’ or low-alcohol soda, culture.
Taking this even further is a new partnership between Fresca, a Coca-Cola group brand, and Constellation Brands, a leading alcoholic beverage company. With this collaboration, Fresca Mixed will be born.
This is a “new, distinctive line” of ready-to-drink cocktails draws inspiration from Fresca’s quiet reputation as a solid mixer of choice: It’s zero calories, contains zero sugar, and it’s a sparkling soda water with fruity flavors. What more could you ask for?
Currently, four flavors with “bold citrus taste and refreshingly crisp flavor” of Fresca are available: grapefruit, black cherry, peach, and blackberry.
The drink is currently surging in popularity, according to a news release, taking the spot as the “fastest-growing soft drink trademark” in Coca-Cola’s US portfolio.
In fact, it has been so popular all of a sudden that it’s currently experiencing shortages, no thanks to the global supply crisis that has affected multiple industries over the last year.
Fresca Mixed will be launching this year. Although the flavors and branding haven’t been detailed just yet, Constellations’ press release has stated that the planned cocktails are inspired by existing fan favorites.
Perhaps one of them will be a take on the ‘Frequila,’ a mix of tequila and Fresca often famously enjoyed by Bravo host Andy Cohen.
