Diptyque Releases Its First Wallpaper Collection, As Your Home Deserves TLC Too
By Mikelle Leow, 19 Jan 2022
Self-care is written all over the walls as beloved candle brand Diptyque has just launched its first-ever wallpaper collection.
The pivot into home décor, although a little unexpected, isn’t out of left field; Diptyque’s beginnings come from upholstery and textiles. The brand was established in 1961 by friends Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant, and its first candles only arrived two years later.
The quaint array of 10 wallpapers, marking 60 decades of the company, is a love letter to the trio and their muses in nature and the Art Deco movement. These patterns, in fact, come from Diptyque’s own archives—and include sketches and drafts, while a few of them draw from Knox-Lee’s travel journals.

To put the project on paper, the patterns were produced with the help of textile designer Cécile Figuette of wallpaper label Bien Fait, who printed the designs using an eco-friendly method on non-woven paper instead of fabric. This preserves the prints’ details and colors, all while being friendlier on the climate.
As luxury pieces, the prices for these wallpapers are a little on the steeper end. A set can go for anywhere between US$650 and US$1,715.
