Oscar Mayer Sells Bologna Face Mask—Because Who Wouldn’t Want To Look Delicious?
By Ell Ko, 21 Jan 2022

What’s thin, cold, slightly damp, comes out of a packet, and is sort of round in shape?
A sheet face mask! And bologna! And now, uh, a bologna face mask!
This could be landing on our faces very soon, thanks to none other than meat and cold-cut production company Oscar Mayer. In collaboration with Korean skincare firm Seoul Mamas, it has produced its very own element to the self-care ritual.

“Inspired by those who used to playfully make masks out of their bologna as kids, this product was born as a modern-day way to spark smiles for fans of Oscar Mayer and beauty enthusiasts alike,” states Lindsey Resser, Senior Marketing Analyst at the firm.
“Oscar Mayer has a legacy bringing levity to things that have gotten too serious, and beauty is a ripe territory to playfully subvert.”

Available on Amazon, the Bologna Hydrogel Sheet Face Mask works just like any other standard face mask. There’s a focus on hydrating and restoring the skin, with benefits such as moisture retention and skin elasticity.
Perhaps the most important benefit of all is that it will induce “unparalleled serotonin surges.” We all need some of that at times.

Best applied on a clean face, the mask should stay on for about 20 minutes before being removed—plenty of time for a few comical selfies.
And no, it doesn’t contain any meat. And no, you cannot eat it. That is, the company says, what real bologna is for.
Oscar Mayer is no stranger to attention-grabbing, unconventional advertising: who else would produce bacon-scented laces, or sell Hot Doge Wieners?
