Milwaukee House With Four Toilets—Side By Side—Takes To Market For $450K

Those who stockpiled on toilet paper ahead of the lockdown might finally put the remainder to good use at this historical Hawthorne Avenue house in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin that was newly listed for US$450,000 on Willow.
Stretching 3,913 feet, the “stately” Hawthorne House has six bedrooms with cozy hardwood floors and walk-in wardrobes, a country kitchen with a breakfast bar, and staff chambers.
But the prized feature—according to onlookers, at least—is its bathroom of four toilets installed directly next to each other, sans dividers. Of course, it also has four sinks.

As the phrase “luxury of choice” goes, you get the option of using one of the four thrones situated in that bathroom. Maybe you don’t feel like sitting next to a wall that day, so you pick a middle seat. You could also turn it into a hangout of sorts and get three other people to sit in with you.
But if privacy is more of your thing, there are two other bathrooms in this house with single toilets. Or just flush your US$450,000 elsewhere.
In all seriousness, this dwelling has been around for about 170 years, although it didn’t have this bizarre feature at first. As reported by House Beautiful, the house was built by the Fowle family in 1851 and stood as a farmhouse for 80 years. It was then donated to the Girl Scouts of the United States of America between the 1920s and 1930s.
It’s possible that, when the Girl Scouts moved in and added the four toilets, it also installed dividers.
The Hawthorne House was sold to the current owner, who initially wanted to turn the property into an Airbnb but has decided to sell it instead.
