Who needs $100 molecular gastronomy meals when you can have a pack of French fries?
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Idaho’s state potato commission has distilled its affections for its local treasure to create a perfume called Frites by Idaho. Top notes are French fries, of course.
The fragrance, priced at US$1.89 for a 1.7-ounce bottle, is concocted from distilled Idaho potatoes and essential oils, and serves as an olfactory reminder of Idaho’s homegrown tubers.
Encapsulating this essence is a posh crinkle-cut crystalline bottle, no less.
“Whether you’re at a drive-through restaurant or dining in, it’s near impossible to not grab a fry and take a bite before you dive into your meal. The smell is too good to resist," comments Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) CEO and president Jamey Higham. “This perfume is a great gift for anyone who can't refuse a French fry.”
Validating everyone’s love of French fries, however, is the fact that all bottles were quickly snapped up—but worry not, as there are still some to spare. The IPC is now hosting a sweepstakes on Instagram where the public can still vie for the limited-edition Frites by Idaho.
