In February, Coca-Cola introduced Starlight, the first limited-edition drink under its Coca-Cola Creations platform, which focuses on experiences that merge both the “physical and digital worlds.”
Those who got their hands on Starlight were able to savor the “space beverage,” which allowed consumers to taste the feeling of “stargazing around a campfire,” along with a distinct cooling sensation evoking “the feeling of a cold journey to space.”
Now, in its second release, Coca-Cola is turning from outer space to the digital sphere.
Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is the brand’s first flavor “born in the metaverse,” and is said to let gamers taste the “playfulness of pixels” in a drink.
Intriguingly, a sip of the concoction’s bright taste will be “reminiscent of powering up a game,” supposedly with a refreshing finish that makes it the perfect potion for leveling up in the fantasy realms.
“Just as pixels power digital connection, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte brings people together to share moments of Real Magic,” said Oana Vlad, Senior Director of Global Strategy at The Coca-Cola Company.
Aside from the drink itself, fans of pixel gaming can access an augmented reality (AR) journey online, which will allow you to guide BYTE—a “lost” 8-bit pixel—back to rejoin the Coca-Cola logo.
The gamified beverage has launched in limited quantities in select Latin America countries starting April 4, followed by an online-only campaign in the US from May 2.
