LEGO To Raise Its Prices In Coming Months Due To Stacking Costs
By Alexa Heah, 15 Jun 2022
LEGO’s reputation as an expensive hobby is about to ring more true this August, with the Danish toymaker announcing that it will be hiking the prices of some of its products in the near future.
This comes as the company has seen an increase in pricing for raw materials and operating costs. Hypebeast reports that customers could be shelling out 5% to 25% more for its famed blocks, with prices for the larger and more complex likely to see the greatest surge.
In an official statement, LEGO says that while it has absorbed costs in the past to “keep pricing stable” for fans, the rapid inflation has caused it to finally decide to increase the price of some of its sets, which will come into effect in just two months.
Will collectors be put off by the brand’s expensive products becoming even more costly? No one can be sure, but the firm says it will strive to ensure its sets “offer great value” going forward.
