NBA Finals Redesigns Logo As A Throwback To Games From The Past
By Alexa Heah, 21 Jun 2022
Bringing back the iconic NBA Finals script font from 1986 to 1995 and 2004 to 2017, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has officially revealed its reimagined logo for this year’s competition.
In honor of the league’s 75th anniversary, the modernized logo will be displayed alongside the Larry O’Brien Trophy in an updated black and gold color palette.
NewcastStudio noted intricate details on the updated logo, such as subtle gold accents on certain letters, as well as its more brutalist iteration as compared to the older script, now emphasizing bolder strokes and elements.
“The NBA Finals serves as the culmination of our 75th Anniversary Season as we celebrate the league’s past, present, and future,” said NBA Chief Marketing Officer Kate Jhaveri.
“Highlighted by the return of our familiar Finals script font, back by popular demand, our new logo pays homage to our league’s history and looks forward to what’s ahead,” she added.
