Have you ever wanted to step into the shoes of Batman and feel what it must be like to have Gotham sitting under your wings? Well, now you can literally step into his shoes, as a pair worn by Michael Keaton from Tim Burton’s Batman is going on auction under Propstore Auctions.
The custom-made Nike boots have Air Trainers as their base and a black leather armor for the shin extended from the sneakers up to the knee, creating a sleek leather boot effect.
The comfort of having Nikes as the base allowed for the superhero to zip around Gotham to protect a city wracked with villainy.
For the mere price of US$20,000 to US$30,000 potentially, so could you.
The shoe was designed by Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, who produced the footwear for free in a bid to further integrate the Nike name into pop culture.
Hatfield was also part of the creation of the Batsuit, where he helped streamline and add more muscular elements to it. Eight pairs of Bat Boots were made for Keaton and his stunt double to use during filming, as part of a deal struck by Nike and producer Jon Peters.
After 33 years, signs of aging are visible on the shoe. As with any pair of time-worn sneakers, crumbling midsoles and cracked leather are inevitable. However, that probably would not deter hardcore Batman fans from getting their hands on this pair of iconic superhero-approved Nikes.
