If you’ve watched enough horror movies, you’d know that there’s always someone that doesn’t make it out alive. Well, spoiler alert—this doesn’t happen in this film starring Ford’s 2023 F-150 Raptor R as speed is on its side.
To convey the “scary fast” nature of the off-road pickup, the automaker and advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy New York launched a faux horror film trailer that is, interestingly, showing in cinemas. In just two minutes, the spot resuscitates all sorts of horror tropes, from bats to monsters.
There’s even a movie poster for good measure.
The Utah desert turns dark for the mini-film, inspired by grindhouse movies and directed by Lauren Sick—throwing a driver in a Raptor R into a nightmare of (real!) scorpions, wolves, a burning cactus, rattlesnakes, bats, and a Slenderman-like hunter.
The protagonist evades them all. His secret? A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine and 700 horsepower.
Scary Fast draws parallels between film buffs’ penchant for scary movies and drivers’ obsession with fast cars, where they all purposefully frighten themselves.
