Funko Pop collectors are getting a whole new way to experience the vinyl figures in the form of a video game. In collaboration with 10:10 Games, the figurine maker is branching into the lucrative world of video games with its own high-budget, triple-A game.
The announcement was made via a tweet where an animated Freddy Funko was seen wearing a 10:10 Games shirt and rocking out on a guitar.

According to the press release, this will be the company’s first ‘AAA Action Platformer’ and is set to be released in 2023. Funko and 10:10 kept the game’s details under wraps, but they did reveal that Jon Burton, a five-time BAFTA award winner, will lead the project.
Burton served as the game’s creative director for LEGO Batman: The Videogame and both of its follow-ups in addition to LEGO Star Wars. He also wrote LEGO Batman: The Movie’s original screenplay. Along with Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R, he served as the creative director and chief designer for Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. With a whole bevy of iconic video games, it’s safe to say that Funko’s flagship game is in safe hands.
Funko’s collection of vinyl figures covers virtually every fictional and non-fictional icon in pop-culture history. The addition of Burton to the team points to the very real possibility that Funko’s new game could be its own variation of the LEGO Dimensions series, which Burton is at the helm of as well.
The video game may be a genuine delight for both ardent collectors and non-collectors thanks to its numerous partnerships with well-known entertainment franchises.
