If you’re a photography enthusiast and will be in New York City this September, Fujifilm’s forthcoming event will be worth shooting your shot. The camera maker has announced a completely free photography festival to celebrate the art of visual storytelling.
Fujikina New York, a “touch-and-try, part-education, and part-exhibition” event, will take place at The Glasshouse at 660 12th Ave in Manhattan from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday, September 10. The all-in-one convention is typically held in Tokyo, but Fujifilm is taking it to NYC in a North American first.
The company has selected the Big Apple to host its next festival due to its “rich history of showing Fujifilm’s support and celebration of the arts,” explains Victor Ha, vice president of Electronic Imaging and Optical Devices at Fujifilm North America Corporation.
Besides being able to test Fujifilm cameras and lenses, guests will also enjoy one-to-one studio sessions and hands-on workshops facilitated by experts in portraiture, photojournalism, landscape photography, and more.
The program will include photo walks focused on various techniques and genres, and visitors who don’t have equipment on hand can also borrow some to join these trails.
Fujikina New York will house a series of exhibits showcasing compelling work by photographers around the world. Since this year marks the 10th anniversary of the X mount, Fujifilm is also choosing the NYC convention to spotlight work by 10 female photographers.
As this will be a one-day event, interested participants will need to register their attendance. More about the festival can be found here.
