‘Fast Fashion Confessional Hotline’ Swoops In To Fight Your Shopping Temptations

There’s no doubt many are aware of how much damage fast fashion does to the planet. After all, brands have taken strides in becoming more sustainable, from Adidas’ mushroom shoeboxes to baby shoes that can be dissolved in water when they’ve been outgrown.
However, thredUP, one of the world’s largest online resale platforms, notes that one in three Gen-Z users still feel addicted to the clutches of consumerism. And to defeat this evil, the company has tapped on Stranger Things star Priah Ferguson to help youth break up with fast fashion for good.
By launching the ‘Fast Fashion Confessional Hotline’, the brand hopes it can convince shoppers to “resist the temptation of fast fashion and embrace more sustainable shopping habits,” as 59% of respondents from its 2022 Resale Report feeling that the habit was hard to stop.
The next time you’re tempted to make a quick purchase, why not pick up the phone and dial 1-855-THREDUP? Callers will not only get to confess their “fast-fashion sins” but will also be given the support needed to switch to better shopping habits.
While Ferguson won’t be live on every phone call, there’ll be a recorded message sharing her own confessions and answering queries on why such shopping habits are bad for the planet and how to switch to thrifting as a more affordable, environmentally-friendly alternative.
“I’m a huge fan of fashion and getting the latest trends, but I also care about keeping our planet healthy and strong. I’m very excited to partner with thredUP,” the actress says.
“After learning how bad fast fashion is for the environment, I decided to take a break from shopping that way. I hope this hotline inspires people to change their shopping habits and think about thrifting. Even small changes can make a big different for our future.”
