Walmart Lets You ‘Be Your Own Model’ By Realistically Trying Clothes With Photos

Imagine being able to try on anything that catches your eye, without having to spend hours in a dusty fitting room battling layers of fabric.
Well, Walmart is now making shoppers’ dream a reality with a new ‘Be Your Own Model’ virtual try-on feature.
Months ago, the retailer introduced ‘Choose My Model’, an earlier iteration of the technology that allowed customers to select from 50 models—spanning a range of heights and sizes—to best understand how an item will look on them.
Claiming to be the first company to offer this virtual experience at scale, Walmart will now allow shoppers to use their own pictures to better visualize how clothing will look on their figures, calling it the “most realistic application” of try-on technology.

While similar programs typically lay an image of an item atop of one’s body, the firm’s model makes use of “ultra-realistic simulation” with shadows and fabric draping, allowing customers to visualize where clothing falls on their bodies realistically.
Those keen to put the technology to the test can try it on more than 270,000 items across Walmart’s extensive offerings, with brands including Free Assembly, Scoop, Sofia Jeans, Athletic Works, No Boundaries, and more.
Be Your Own Model is currently available to iOS users of the Walmart app, and will soon be coming to Android devices and on desktop.
