Marvel & Pfizer Create Comic Book Enlisting ‘Avengers’ To Promote Vaccines

Marvel is tackling a very real everyday villain in our society, COVID-19, with a new edition of Avengers comics.
Instead of the regular squad coming in to save the day, the story highlights how everyday people can be heroes by getting vaccinated.
The Avengers: Everyday Heroes comic begins with a family waiting in a clinic to get their shots. During this time, the news relays a story about the Avengers who have set out on their newest mission against the villain Ultron.
Most of the book is about the family discussing the origins and history of the superheroes and how, when the city’s safety is placed on the line, they’re the first to respond to the danger. It’s meant as a mirror against the pandemic and how Pfizer was one of the first pharmaceutical companies to issue a vaccine.
When Ultron wreaks havoc, the Avengers act as the first line of defense. People can help protect themselves by staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. Head to https://t.co/PfNUYTZlkj to get a first look at Pfizer, BioNTech, and Marvel’s comic book! pic.twitter.com/hwhRateYIB

The family discusses how Ultron, who has been around for decades, continuously evolves. With each new iteration of the villain, the Avengers always find a way to “innovate and adapt” and utilize their research arsenal to figure out new ways to defeat him.
It’s no secret that the pandemic has created a division between vaxxers and anti-vaxxers. The project is a clever attempt to catch the attention of kids and adults alike by telling them that not all heroes wear capes. Instead, they sport bandages on their arms to show they’ve gotten the latest vaccine and booster shot.
Everyday Heroes also has some guidelines on members of the public safeguarding themselves against the virus, as well as QR codes that people can scan to get more information on how and where to get their shots.
You can read the comic online if you’re interested in learning about how you could do as much as the Avengers in defending the world. According to MediaPost, Pfizer states that physical copies will be available later in the year in clinics and medical centers for people to leaf through as they wait for their shot.
