Microsoft’s Clippy & Oreo Thins Are Here To Save You From Your Workday Blues
By Nicole Rodrigues, 19 Oct 2022
Microsoft’s Clippy has always had good intentions, even if his overzealous nature sometimes drove people nuts. But just like any good enthusiastic assistant, Clippy just wants to ease our work day, and this time he’s doing so not in the form of productivity tips but Thins. Oreo Thins, to be exact.
That’s right, Microsoft is taking good ol’ Clippy out of storage and placing a box of Oreo Thins into its hands to deliver to office workers.
The Oreo Thinvite campaign is serving up a box with packs of four cookies decked out in Microsoft’s unmistakable blue backgrounds from its 365 (recently rebranded from Office) Outlook, calendar, and contact apps. In addition, each packet has a little message from Clippy in his iconic yellow text bubble.
“Are you ready for your Thins break?” reads one. At the same time, another reminds you not to dip your Oreo over your TPS report. Speaking of dipping, the set also comes with a Clippy Dippy, a little plastic thong with Clippy on its end to use for essential milk dipping while at your desk.
And that’s not all. Between November 1 and 3, employees can ask Clippy to block a snack break between 2 P.M. and 2.15 P.M. This can be done by signing up on the Thinvite page, where you will be booked out on your calendar during that period to kick back, dunk some Oreos, and watch a spot created by Microsoft called Return to the Pawfice.
Two unique emojis will also be arriving at Teams, and workers can find them by typing “oreo” or “oreoyum” into their search box on the app.
