Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrels Form Smooth, Aged Heel Of Intoxicating Boots
Pappy Van Winkle’s bourbon remains the unicorn of the liqueur world. And with just roughly 7,000 barrels and 84,000 bottles produced each year, it’s incredibly rare to chance upon the coveted drink.
While you might not get the chance to drink it, it turns out that walking on the whiskey is a possibility.
Bourbon whiskey barrels, to be exact. Shoe company Wolverine has teamed up with the distillery to turn old barrels and repurpose them into boots.
The 1000 Mile X Old Rip Van Winkle boot takes 10-year-old Pappy barrels and turns them into heel stacks.
The rest of the boot is clothed in a gray Deville leather from the Horween Leather Company that is meant to be reminiscent of the charred oak barrels necessary for aging the liqueur. On the footwear’s tongue is a hand-numbered Old Rip Van Winkle tag.
The boots come with a price tag of US$415. Total proceeds will go to the mikeroweWORKS Work Ethic Scholarship and the National FFA Organization, which supports youth pursuing careers in agricultural science and other skilled trades.
